Dr. Victor Shepherd
occupied Canadas only Chair of Wesley Studies from
1993 to 2004. A student of Wesley for thirty years, Dr.
Shepherd has combined his interest in the Methodist tradition with his expertise in the
sixteenth-century Reformation. He endeavours to probe the substance and ethos of Wesley
and classical Methodism, particularly for the enrichment of the church in Canada, while
always relating Wesleys thought to that of the church catholic. In 1995
Roberts Wesleyan College (New York) recognized Dr. Shepherd's Wesley scholarship by
awarding him the honorary degree of S.T.D.
Dr. Shepherd is Professor of
Systematic and Historical Theology at Toronto's Tyndale Seminary where he
lectures in Historical Theology, Systematic Theology, Philosophy
for Understanding Theology, Methodist Tradition, The Life and Work of Charles
Wesley, Puritan Spirituality, as well
as
the theology of Martin Luther, John Calvin and John Wesley (see Courses).
